Media Monday

Originally posted:September 28

Social media is quickly becoming our main source of not only pop news, but regular news as well. The vast accomodities that accompany the tire-less world of social media make it very hard for us not to get our news from it. What would our pop world be like if social media did not exist? I mean, Facebook was not always at the tip of our fingers (literally)! Without social media we are not able to get to know the artists that we love today. With the access of social media we are able to get to know the artists for who they truly are. There is almsost a sense of connection between yourself and the artists. How else would you be able to see what Beyoncé's favorite song of the week is if you didn't follow her on Twitter?! On social media celebs are able to communicate and reach out to their fans. They can see what people are saying about their latest red carpet look, or even how people are enjoying the music they put out. Now, not all pop stars are on social media, and not all of them interact with their fans. In fact, sometimes they're not even the ones tweeting from "their" account. It all depends on the artist and what they are comfortable and not comfortable with. Media and the press also plays a huge role on today's pop world. Without them our love for pop culture would boot be as high as it is today. As humans, we love the controversy that the media sparks. It gives us what feels like a step into the lives of our favorites. And some of us may hate to admit it but we are obsessed with what the media is trying to sell to us, whether it is true or false. This is why social media can be a wonderful asset to the pop world, it allows the artist to tell their own story instead of having their story be told for them.

Quote of the day: "Power means happiness; power means hard work and sacrifice." - Beyoncé

  1. 1. I wrote about this topic because I feel like the role of media in the pop world is constantly changing with the times. I wanted to update readers and give them a sense of how prominent the media really is in the pop world.
    2. This post was kind of difficult to write because I had to come up with a lot of this, it was mostly creative writing.
    3. I want the readers to see how important the media is to celebrities and their lives. The media really has the say in how people are viewed in today's society.

  2. (You have a few grammatical errors here - "pop culture would boot be as high ...")
Other than that though, this post is really compelling and speaks to this generation so much. You are quite right to highlight social media as a part of mainstream culture creation - it is a driving force in what we wear, how we act, what we listen to, and even what we aspire to in life.
